SELF CARE IS A REVOLUTIONARY ACT
“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation,
and that is an act of political warfare.”
HEALTH AND WELLNESS
It is essential that Black femmes are cared for because of the multiple layers of aggression and oppression that we face without relief.
When left unaddressed these social barriers cascade into many faceted stress-triggered ailments, including early death. BWU is dedicated to being the soft-landing space that provides the tools for accepting and receiving care.
Meet Our Health and Wellness Director
Charlotte has been an Esthetician and skin care specialist for over twenty years.
She believes that Black women have a right to the luxuries of pamper and care just as anyone else. When Charlotte is not being a Mom and skin care professional she is whipping up botanical magic in her kitchen. She is an expert at homemade remedies for ailments and using natural products to create face masks, creams, teas, and many other decadents that she shares with Black women in our organization.
Charlotte came up with the idea for the Community Spa Day for Black Women. It is her passion to serve Black women in the community who are on the front lines of fighting for black women’s liberation.
